The Synopsis

Yuzuyu draws a picture of Kippei and gives it to him in his room. Kippei, who was looking throuhg picture albums when she came in, shares some with her. Yuzuyu sits in Kippei's lap as Kippei shows her pictures of when Yuzuyu was a baby with her mom. Kippei tells her that it looks like her mom really loved her, so she will definitely be coming back to see her. Kippei salutes Yuzuyu in thanks for the picture she gave him.
Kippei is pounced on by another girl when he gets to school. Kippei manages to avoid her under the watching eyes of Kokoro and her friends. Suddenly, a strange and "suspicious" girl bumps into Kokoro and drops an ID book with Kippei's picture on it. The group of friends stare on bewildered as the strange girl hurriedly picks it up and dashes away again. Kippei comes over and hears about this, and wonders "jokingly" about how strange it would be if that mysterious person were actually a guy. Kokoro, disgusted, leaves without a word.
Yuzuyu is playing in the sandbox when Ken-kun approaches her and asks if they might play together. Yuzuyu remembers hitting Ken-kun the other day over her onigiri, and apologizes. Ken-kun tells her that since he's a guy, it's okay (>.>). The two of them are laughing and having a good time when Marika-chan comes over and "accidentally" drops a toy truck on the sand castle they were building. Ken-kun reluctantly but politely asks her if she would like to play with them, but Marika-chan tells them that she would except that Yuzuyu doesn't have a mother, so she only wants to play with Ken-kun. This hurts Yuzuyu deeply, and she cries silently as she watches Marika-chan drag a reluctant Ken-kun away.
Kippei is ambushed again as he is about to leave campus. Annoyed, Kippei tells her that he has found his girl (referring to Yuzuyu though his classmate doesn't know it), and she begins to sob as she watches him leave. Meanwhile, the suspicious girl observes the scene from the other side of the lockers.
As Yuzuyu is waiting for Kippei to arrive, she sees Marika-chan rushing to her mother. Marika, seeing that she was being watched, turns around and smirks in Yuzuyu's direction. Marika starts stepping backwards, and accidentally trips over a step. She is caught by Kippei, who has just arrived. She begins to get dreamy at the sight of Kippei, and blushes when he picks her up ans asks if she's okay. She is horrified, however, when she sees Kippei call for Yuzuyu. Yuzuyu rushes over and hugs his legs, telling him she wants to go home now. The teachers come out and blush over Kippei as they wave goodbye to Yuzuyu. When they leave, Marika-chan shouts at her mother to make her a big borther right now.
Kippei notices that something is wrong, but is unable to figure it out. Suddenly, he stops walking and asks Yuzuyu if she would like to eat some caramel, telling her that it will make her feel better. As Kippei searches for some caramel in the store, Yuzuyu's hat is blown away. She chases after it, and is almost hit by a truck. Kokoro makes it in time to get her out of harm's way, and tells her that that was dangerous. Yuzuyu tells her that she is with Kippei, and that he is taking care of her because her mother is missing. Kokoro is surprised at this, and smiles as she watches Yuzuyu run back to Kippei.
Kippei, who was frantically searching for Yuzuyu (he even looks in garbage can >.>;), scolds her gently - "how dare you disappear so suddenly?" Yuzuyu tells him that she was saved by "onee-chan" (which basically means older sister, since she doesn't know Kokoro's name), but when Kippei looks down the street, he doesn't see anyone. He feeds Yuzuyu a piece of caramel candy and asks her if it tastes good. Yuzuyu is silent and then laughs when Kippei realizes she's leading him on. Nearby in a bookstore, the suspicious girl watches angrily as the two make their way home again.
As they walk, Yuzuyu sees a mother and son arguing over eating hamburgers or curry. She suddenly remembers Marika-chan's words about her being motherless, and sqeezes Kippei's hand silently. Kippei, feeling the slight pressure, wonders for a bit and then stops. He asks Yuzuyu what's wrong, and Yuzuyu tells him that something happened at school that day to make her lonely, and that even though she doesn't have a mother right now, it's okay because she has Kippei. Kippei picks her up and tells her that until her mother returns, he will always be with her. The two of them then go on to a series of "really really really" tradeoffs until Yuzuyu laughs and says that the caramel was good.

The Review

Very touching. Kippei has definitely matured since the first episode, and actually looks disgusted whenever another girl decides to hang onto him. This episode also shows how cruel kids can be.
