The Synopsis
After Stellar dies in Shinn's arms, Shinn takes off in his Impulse and lands nearby a quiet lake. He cries as he remembers his broken promise that he would protect her, and he thinks back to when the two of them first met by the beach, how happy Stellar had seemed that time. Shinn then carries Stellar's body to the edge of the water and gently lowers her into the arms of the waters, whispering comforting words of 'rest in peace.'
Meanwhile, the survivors of the battle are worn out as they begin repairs after the battle. Athrun, whose unit had been attacked by Kira in seed mode, wanders around the Minerva with conflicting emotions. He then finds Shinn and Rey studying a camera-recording of their encounter with Freedom. Athrun is horrified when he realizes that Shinn is doing a combat simulation (studying one's opponent in order to find a weakness and defeat them) of Kira. He and Shinn begin to have at it when Rey stops the both of them. Rey explains to Athrun that it is a perfectly reasonable move on Shinn's part to study one's enemy in order to protect their side of the war. He informs Athrun that even though he may have been comrades with the pilot of the Freedom in the previous war, the Minerva's past confrontations with Freedom have proven to be anything but friendly, and that because of this the Freedom is considered a legitimate enemy of ZAFT.
Athrun is taken aback by this and doesn't seem to have a satisfactory comeback to Rey's argument, and he storms out of the room in frustration.
Neo, who was picked up by the Archangel after he fell from his destroyed unit, is now in the infirmary of the legendary ship. They find that the data of this supposed enemy is exactly the same as their records of their lost comrade, Muu La Flaga. Captain Ramius bursts into tears when the fact that this stranger has truly lost his memory of being Muu becomes evident, and the rest of the Archangel are left at a loss as to what to do about him.
Throuhgout the battle, most of the world had been ignorant of the merciless attack on the people. Chairman Dullindal makes a worldwide (and spacewide) announcement, sending full coverage of the battle and a thorough overview of the cruelty of the Logos, who, according to him, are mankind's true enemies--the merchants of death who thrive on the manufacturing and distribution of weapons of war.
Djibril, the leader of the Logos, is faced with panicked Logos members as their faces and identities are revealed on the international channel.
The Review
This episode wasn't quite as action-packed as the previous one, but it definitely adds to the story nicely. What are Dullindal's real intentions? His words sound good enough - he has identified, seemingly by all accounts, the true enemy of mankind and has drawn a clear path to "peace." Yet, he uses Meer to strengthen his words, and demands that they fight in order to end the fighting. Kira frowns at this, and, personally, if Kira doesn't like it, it's probably no good....
