The Synopsis

Moments after the Minerva enters Earth's atmosphere, they are able to locate the Impulse and Athrun's Zaku. Earth is in turmoil - although the larger pieces of Junius 7 were shattered into smaller fragments, these fragments are still large enough to cause explosions all over the world. Kira and Lacus bring the orphans from their place underground to shelter. Chairman Dullindal sends aid right after the asteroid fragments hit, trying to calm the people.
The Girty Lue, as witness to the fragmentation of Junius 7, caught pictures of the veterans as they used motor flares to move the asteroid towards Earth. These pictures were forwarded to Jibril, who broadcasted this to the world, causing the pain of the Naturals to boil over into anger and calls for a "pure and blue world."
The Minerva lands on the Pacific Ocean and the pilots have a break. Cagalli meets Athrun and tells him that it was a good thing he decided to pilot again. Shinn, hearing this, lets out another outburst about how naive Cagalli is. He tells her about the last words of one of the veterans before the destruction of Junius 7 - how he had screamed at Athrun that Patrick Zala had been right. She seems to have forgotten that there were still fragments that hit Earth. Athrun calmly explains the situation to her, and wonders if Earth will still forgive them, and leaves. Shinn tells Cagalli that he fells sorry for him.
Back inside the Minerva, Athrun remembers painful memories of when his father died and the words of the veterans. He decides to take a walk, and comes across the pilots in the middle of shooting practice. Lunamaria tells Athrun that they already know everything about him and continues to give a short biography of Athrun's past - son of Patrick Zala, pilot of the Justice, legendary pilot in Jacchin Due - and asks him to give her a demonstration of his sharpshooting skills. Athrun does the demo after she tells him that she could really use some help with it, since she isn't that good. Athrun does an awesome show of his skills, and explains that it's not a skill worth learning. Shinn, who walks in halfway through the demonstration, watches in amazement. As Athrun begins to leave, Shinn asks him whether or not he will go back to Orb, and why.

The Review

I liked this episode. Whereas Gundam Seed revolved more around Kira, Gundam Seed Destiny tells us more about Athrun's story.
