The Synopsis

The story begins at the end of the Meiji Restoration, in the 11th year of the Meiji era. Himura Kenshin was a bloody assassin famed for his ruthless killings in the streets of Tokyo, and was known as the Hitokiri Battousai, or Battousai the Manslayer (sounds corny in English ^-^), to his enemies. He meets Assistant Kendo Master Kaoru, a young boy picked up off the streets, and former adversaries and acquaintances as the story advances. Kenshin tries to figure out his past, and tries to atone for his time spent as an assassin. He is now a rurouni (not a ronin since he was never officially a samurai), "the wandering samurai."
